About US

We are a devoted community of Tamang Shamans known as Bombos rooted in the remote highland region of Gorkha District in western Nepal. Our lives are deeply woven into the sacred rhythms of nature and the ancient energies flowing through the Himalayan landscape. We have been practising shamanism for more than 27 years in our generation alone a spiritual tradition that predates organized religion and embodies the wisdom of our ancestors. Yet this is only a small part of a much older story. The true origin of our tradition lies beyond recorded history. Though we remember ourselves as the seventeenth generation based on ancestral names we can still recall countless others came before whose names have been forgotten but whose spirits live on in us. If we were to count every bearer of this lineage the number would stretch far into the past. Our tradition is not merely inherited through teaching it is inscribed in our very being it is present in our bones our flesh our breath and our blood. We are born into it raised within it we return to it in death. Bon Shamanism is not something we perform it is something we are. According to ancient oral histories our lineage traces back to the Altai Mountains the spiritual cradle of many early shamanic cultures. From there our ancestors journeyed to the sacred region of Mount Kailash continued through the Yellow River basin in ancient China and eventually arrived in Tibet where they encountered the Bon religion. In this meeting the primal shamanic wisdom of our people merged with the cosmology rituals and healing practices of Bon giving rise to what we now call Bon Shamanism. During periods of persecution under Tibetan imperial rule our ancestors sought refuge in the highlands of present day Nepal in the remote and spiritually resonant hills of Gorkha they preserved their sacred knowledge and allowed it to take deep root. Today we continue this living tradition through ritual healing visionary practice ancestral remembrance and deep communion with the natural and unseen world. A Bombo is not merely a healer or spiritual guide but a mediator between worlds a guardian of balance and a vessel of ancestral wisdom. Illness is understood as a disturbance in the flow of life energy and the role of the shaman is to restore harmony within the individual and the community. Our knowledge is passed not through books but through oral transmission lived experience and spiritual embodiment. Our tradition includes diverse Bon lineages such as Yurung Bon Tharun Bon Sele Hayakar Bon Pahu Bon Makhap Chhaiut Bon Thagjen Rhalpa Bon and many others. Though the names may vary across regions the sacred essence remains unchanged. We welcome all who seek to understand preserve or reconnect with the indigenous spiritual wisdom of the Himalayas. Through healing cultural education and spiritual renewal we strive to honour our ancestors and carry forward this sacred lineage for the benefit of future generations. This moment is sacred and also fragile We are the last generation in our place to bear this ancient tradition We carry the weight of living memory and we know that once we pass on the continuity of our lineage is at risk Without urgent effort this timeless tradition may vanish from the world forever That knowledge born of mountain winds ancestral visions and healing song must not disappear And so we dedicate ourselves to sharing our teachings inviting others to witness learn and help preserve this heritage across the world.
